Concrete Jungle: Military Green and Nuetrals

concrete2

It’s been sunny lately with a bit of chill. Warm days and cooler nights, definitely Spring weather. It’s time to bring out warm weather pieces.

I wore this outfit touring through the new murals that went up in the Kakaako Area. I love looking at the different murals and looking for inspiration.

I love the effortless pairing of cream and black and I decided to add on a military green anorak for a little bit of color without taking away from the neutral vibe.

I kept the the whole outfit very casual and softened the look with closed toe heeled sandals. I can not get enough of this pair.

Window Pane Gingham and Saturday Shoes

image

I have a slight love affair with gingham and plaid. I love the criss crossing patterns of colors and the unexpected color combinations that result from the interwoven threads.

A few months ago, I found this window pane white gingham blouse. It does not have color but I like the unexpected and subtle sheer details of the blouse. It lends itself to other outfit pairings. It’s such a great blouse to dress up or down.

image

I personally want to play with a pop of color for a layer underneath or to dress down the look with a pair of boyfriend jeans but that will be for another day. Today, I paired it with my midi box pleated skirt and a pair of my favorite Kate Spade Saturday Sandals.

For this particular outfit, I wanted to play with the ever so classic black and white combination. I added a muted black jeweled rope necklace and carried over the criss cross lines of the blouse to my favorite quilted bag.

Sunday Brunch: Oxblood Skirt and Linked Details

birthday4

I hope you are having an amazing Sunday spent with your love ones. We spent a part of  Sunday at brunch in Downtown Honolulu. It was such beautiful warm day to be out.

Birthday4.jpg

I have been searching for a neoprene skirt for a very long time and recently found this front pleated a-line skirt that I absolutely adore. Neoprene can sometimes look very bulky depending on the way the fabric is cut because it does not drape and tends to sustain a stiffer shape.  I was excited to find this skirt and welcomed it’s simple silhouette.

Birthday3.jpg

I paired the skirt with a striped shirt and finished the outfit with my favorite quilted clutch, a pair of my favorite oxblood pumps and some chain linked accessories.

How was your Sunday? Let me know. Take care and thanks again for reading.

I’m currently loving blues. I am really loving the richness of the color and the peacefulness it exudes. One of the pieces from my closet that I’ve been pairing for different outfits is this cobalt blue pencil skirt. For this outfit, I paired it with a striped button down, a nude pair of shoes, and a little bit of bling.

Let me know what you think. Take care and thanks for reading.

Happy Monday Everyone,

I hope you are thoroughly enjoying the start of 2015. A couple of months ago, I decided to change up my hair since I started to get bored with growing it out. If you know me, I have the tendency to change up my hair every couple of months or so but in the past year, I have felt the need to grow it out and give it some length, a very stark difference from shorter cuts that I adore. The one thing that I do when I do not feel like cutting my hair is, to give it some color just to keep it interesting. I find that changing your hair is one way to do a mini make over without spending large amount of mula.

I wanted ombre hair a while back but since my hair was sporting a shorter style a couple of years ago the hair style was not conducive for ombre. I’m also a huge fan of peek-a-boo color. I wanted one of the other and I just could not get settled on a hair coloring style that I liked. I did do some research on Pinterest to find different options. I worked proposed the ideas to my stylist, Karin from M. Matoi Studio in Kakaako, Honolulu. Karin has been my stylist for years and she always does an amazing job with my hair no matter what challenge I bring her way. And mind you, she has almost given me every hairstyle in the book.  It’s always good to find a stylist you can always trust and really know what styles would fit your hair. She proposed peek-a-boo in the front and a red ombre in the back. I love the results.

So what will be your new hairstyle for 2015? Let me know. If you have any questions fill free to comment or email.

XOXO,

Elle

Blue and Brass: Ocean Blue Midi with Brass Details

oceanblue4

Hey All,

I hope you had an amazing couple of weeks. School and work is tapering down for me and I’m looking forward to a long awaited trip. Before I step into the cold winters of the mid-west, I’m going to enjoy the next couple of weeks of cool days and sunny skies.

Shades of blue are in this season and when I saw this midi skirt it reminded me of the cool ocean blues that surround Hawaii.  I choose this brass necklace to compliment the brass studs in the shoes. I love how the gold tone of the brass brings out the richness of the blue.

A Touch of Greece: Pleated Shoulders and Textured Pencil Skirt

Greece greece greece Greece

Hey All,

My schedule got busy again. On top of work and all the activities I participate in regularly, this past month was eventful with the addition of going back to school and welcoming my nephew. But nevertheless, with such a busy schedule, there was some time to do some blog shoots. Hopefully, I can still keep up. Wish me luck.

Last year, during Hawaii Fashion Week, I was perusing through the work of local designers and have been admiring the work of a few who fit my style esthetic. I recently had the opportunity to meet and check out the work of The Cut Collective. I’ve been loving their collections and have become a fan of their work.

When I saw this top at their showroom a couple of weeks ago, I really loved the pleated shoulders and was inspired to create an outfit that celebrated its Grecian feel. I paired it with a textured midi skirt and finished the outfit with some brass and gold accessories. Let me know what you think.

XOXO,

Elle

Rainy Daze: Rainboots in Hawaii

Hello All,

Hope you are having a great day. Rainy season has arrived in Hawaii. The gloomy skies make me want to cuddle up with a good book and read away, warm up with a bowl of hot pho or sip on hot cocoa with floating marshmallows.

With all this rain, it’s amazing not many people wear rain boots in Hawaii. There was a time some years ago when for a whole month or so, we had rain of biblical proportions. It rained so much that for 40 days and nights the rain seemed like it was falling non stop. I will admit it, I should have bought rain boots then but it never dawned on me. It would have saved me so many pairs of shoes that got ruined from the rain.

Last year, I decided to get a pair of wellies to use during rainy season here. This Fall in Hawaii we have had 6 inches of rain and a few flash flood warnings, so I am definitely making it a point to keep my pair in the car just in case.

When I bought my first pair, I decided to find an inexpensive pair because I wasn’t sure about how many times I would wear them. My first pair of wellies have a comic print. It definitely fits my personality but I’m feeling the need to replace them and get a pair that I can use with more outfits. Recently, I decided to start looking for a pair with style and a color that I can integrate into my wardrobe. I’m looking for a pair that looks less like a rubbery rain boot. Wish me luck.
