Wanderlust: Cruising Through Central America

miami.jpg

A few weeks ago we got an opportunity to take a break and spend time with family. Our first stop was Florida and a visit to the campus of University of Miami. versailles1

On our first night there, we got a chance to taste the Cuban food from Versaille Restuarant in Miami.

Our first stop in Central America was Roatan, an island off the coast of Honduras, were we got a chance to swim with dolphins. And a quick stop in Belize where we drifted down Rio Grande. Both places were full of eco-tours.

We cruised up to Cozumel for some fun in the sun and a cooking class on Mexican food and learned strategies and recipes to bring back home.

Silver Sequins and Celebrations

sequinsandcelebrations.jpg

Hello All,

This past Saturday, we got a chance to celebrate with family at a family wedding. The backdrop was a beautiful floral garden on a perfect Spring Day.

sequinsandcelebrations2.jpg

I wore a simple ensemble of neutrals. The muted silver sheen of this skirt adds a touch of fancy without overpowering the pairing. I adore the fish scale look of the skirt, it reminds of mermaids. I added a couple of strands of pearls and sparkly earrings to tie the whole outfit together.

Hope you are having a great Sunday as I get back into the swing of things.

XOXO,

Elle

New Year, New Beginning

NY2016

NY2016C

Happy New Year!

I’m a little late on this New Year’s post but better late than never. Life has been very busy the last couple of months and I cannot thank you enough for your patience. The blog unfortunately had to take a back seat to everything else that was happening; graduate school, work, and wedding planning.

With every new year, there is a promise of new beginnings and a renewed outlook on life. I cannot wait for what is in store for 2016 and I hope you join me in this journey.

NY2016D

Nothing says celebration like a little bit of red, bling, and some fringe to liven things up.

Cheers to you as we start the year, here’s to a wonderful new year ahead and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Polka Dots

sheerpolkadots2

Hello All,

Polka dots are always classic. The skirt gives the print a softer look by using it on a sheer layer for this A line cut. I decided to bring out the color of the dots by using a similar color top and continuing the circle theme onto the necklace and the cutout of the shoes.

Feeling Blue

cobalt

Happy Wednesday.

While the rest of the continental U.S. is cooling down. I still feel like it’s summer here, the humidity as of late has been a friendly remainder of tropical island weather. Truthfully, I’m missing the cooler weather and the ability to layer and wear cute sweaters. I’m really hoping for a colder winter in Hawaii sans torrential downpours. While we wait for sweater weather, I’m satisfied having more time to wear some of my summer favorites.

The gemstone blue of this dress screams Summer. I adore the shift silhouette with the asymmetric flounce detail of the hemline, a modern take on a classic cut. It adds a soft touch to a very structured neoprene. To break up the bold color, I added black and gray accessories to give it more shape and personality.

Thanks for reading. Let me know what you think.

With Love and Thanks,
Elle

Rainy Day Break: Salted Lemon

SaltedLemon11

Happy Monday Everyone,

Hawaii has been hot and humid lately with our extended summer weather and potential storms in the Pacific.

SaltedLemon7

On humid and rainy days like the ones we have been having, one of the healthiest treats are cold refreshing acai and papaya bowls at Salted Lemon. I completely adore their take on organic and healthy snacks and drinks. Not to mention the fresh flowers and adorable succulents that adorn their upcycled palette tables and walls.

SaltedLemon4

The place has a distinct feeling of home and rightfully so, Patrick, the owner built the business as  an homage to his mom. He mentioned, that while she battled cancer and went through chemotherapy, he started looking at healthy food options and ingredients. He took this passion for health and built Salted Lemon to share healthy options with the community as well as support local growers that his parents once worked with when they ran Bob’s Market.

If you are in Honolulu, stop by Salted Lemon and take a break with healthy amazing food.

Coordinated Stripes

Stripes
Hello All,

I hope you are having a great weekend. Nothing gets old about black and white. It is a definite go to combination with so many possibilities.

Stripes5

The moment I saw this skirt, I fell in love with the unexpected take on stripes and the tulip construction. I really wanted to play up the stripes so I paired it with this striped raglan to create a coordinated look. I’m really like the results.  Let me know what you think.

Have a great weekend and let me know what you think.

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things: Golden Coins and Trapeze Dress

IMG_8677

Hey All,

Happy Saturday to everyone. It’s definitely a hot and humid Summer. I thought that in the beginning of Summer I’d have more time to do more blog posts but life has been busy. I’m just hoping that I’ll get back into the swing of things once I get everything organized and check off my list.

Flow2

One of my favorite go to outfits for running around and doing errands are trapeze dresses and sandals. They are so easy to just throw on and accessorize. I have a few that I have been rotating during the summer to keep cool during these hotter months.

Flow3

I am really hoping to get back into the swing of things in a week or two but until then, thanks again for reading and take care.

Crispy White Summer

crispywhite1

Hey all,

Happy Tuesday to everyone. Warmer summer weather is definitely here. It’s been so humid out that wearing layers and jeans is out of the question. I’ve been keeping cool with lighter airy fabrics that make this humid weather more bearable. During the summer months, I live in dresses and sandals to keep cool and comfortable during warmer weather.

crispywhite2

Lately, I’ve really been loving this white apron dress that I picked up last summer from Rumi Murakami, a local designer here in Hawaii. I love the crispy white fabric and the deconstructed lines of this dress. It’s the perfect dress to battle the warm summer months.

crispywhite3

And the perfect pair of mainstay sandals are a great pair of gladiator sandals.

So how do you keep cool during the warm summer months? Let me know. Take care.

XOXO,

Elle

Concrete Jungle: Military Green and Nuetrals

concrete2

It’s been sunny lately with a bit of chill. Warm days and cooler nights, definitely Spring weather. It’s time to bring out warm weather pieces.

I wore this outfit touring through the new murals that went up in the Kakaako Area. I love looking at the different murals and looking for inspiration.

concrete5

I love the effortless pairing of cream and black and I decided to add on a military green anorak for a little bit of color without taking away from the neutral vibe.

concrete4

I kept the the whole outfit very casual and softened the look with closed toe heeled sandals. I can not get enough of this pair.
