Romantic: Lace and Satin

The flowers are blooming and the birds are chirping. It’s definitely almost Spring here in the tropics. And we all know what that means, love, love is definitely in the air. It’s a time of renewing promises, renewing goals, and renewing commitments. Nature is doing this and so are people.

I’ve always adored the look of these yellow flowers sprinkled on the ground in Febraury in Hawaii. They always seems to put a smile on my face, it reminds me that nature is getting the air ready for love.

While Febraury marks the last month of winter and is often a time to celebrate love, one of my favorite combinations for a dinner night out with the love of my life is satin and lace. This Spring’s collections  celebrate sheer fabrics and layers with lace and chiffon.

In this outfit, I played with satin and lace layers for a romantic date night outfit using the concept of undergarments as outerwear. Here, I layered a satin camisole underneath this lace shell and paired it with a lacey A-line skirt. This look can be achieve by layering undergarments underneath or over tops.

Subtle and Elegant: Lace Dress

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are having an great start to your week. I’m loving the sun shiny skies in Hawaii coupled with the chill of the winter wind. It’s great weather, definitely the best of both worlds.

I wore this dress a couple of months ago for a special photo shoot with Vivid Foto in downtown Honolulu. Several pictures were taken in front of the red brick walls near the Irish pubs. This part of downtown reminds me so much of the North East especially Boston.

I absolutely adore this lace floral dress. I love the organic look of the lace overlay and the way the edges border the dress. I keep the shoes and accessories simple because I really wanted to emphasize the subtle details of the dress.

Hope you have a great day. Thanks for reading. Let me know what you think.

Good Friends, Great Times: Lace and Pleats

Hello All,

This past Spring break, I flew up to Las Vegas to celebrate my best friend’s wedding as well as spend some time with great friends. While visiting, I got a chance to do a photo shoot with my good friend Kris from KM2 Creative. It was so much fun shooting on location as well as learning so much about fashion photography. I have to say, I’m super proud of him for following his dreams as a artist. He is truly an inspiration.

While on my mini vacation in Las Vegas. I like to shop at places that we do not have in Hawaii.  One of my favorite places to frequent is Zara. I love their selection of pieces. They are always on trend and runway inspired. When I first saw this skirt on their website, I instantly fell in love with the colors of the lace. I loved it more when I saw the skirt in person at their Las Vegas store. It is a such a beautiful piece that I wanted to really highlight the skirt in this outfit by choosing pieces that were more subtle.

Mixing Textures: Comfy Sweater, Plaid, and Peek-A-Boo Lace

Hey Everyone,

I hope you are having a great weekend.  Lacey details are popping up everywhere and I could not help but bring out some older pieces from my closet. I’ve always loved the look of lace and I was looking forward to it’s big come back. For many years, I have kept some of my favorite lace adorn pieces and was not willing to let them go just yet. I  was very glad to see lace grace the runways in the past couple of seasons and the online catalog pictures of Zara, Topshop, and Asos.

I picked up this lace skirt many years ago in college. I loved the skirt’s crinkled satin look and peek-a-boo lace hemline. I paired this delicate piece with the rigid structure of the plaid shirt and added a soft comfy sweater. I love mixing textures to get a great finished look.  winterwhite

Thank you again for reading. What trends from the past do you like the most? Let me know and  take care.

Hello all,

Happy Thursday everyone, this past month and a half, I have been busy planning my brother’s wedding. I’m relieved that it is finally over. It was a lot of work but well worth it. I learned a lot in the process of planning and putting it all together.

It was held at the Utopian Estate in Pupukea, Hawaii. I loved the estate’s organic architecture and beautifully designed rooms. Every room and piece of furniture was purposely chosen. It was in a word, GORGEOUS. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to stay at the estate.

For my brother’s wedding, I wore a BCBG Runway dress. I loved the silky texture of the dress juxtaposed with the lace overlay. The dress exuded a vintage feel a la “The Grate Gatsby.” I loved the lace mixed with the silky fabric taupe, nude, and the pop of orange as well the the soft pleating on the bust and skirt of the dress. I also love the unexpected asymmetric hemline.
