Wanderlust: Cruising Through Central America

A few weeks ago we got an opportunity to take a break and spend time with family. Our first stop was Florida and a visit to the campus of University of Miami. versailles1

On our first night there, we got a chance to taste the Cuban food from Versaille Restuarant in Miami.

Our first stop in Central America was Roatan, an island off the coast of Honduras, were we got a chance to swim with dolphins. And a quick stop in Belize where we drifted down Rio Grande. Both places were full of eco-tours.

We cruised up to Cozumel for some fun in the sun and a cooking class on Mexican food and learned strategies and recipes to bring back home.

Off The Shoulder

Summer days calls for lots of breathable cotton and off the shoulder tops. I’ve been spending some time just enjoying the outdoors and breathing in fresh air and enjoying summer flower in bloom.

I paired this blue pin striped off the shoulder top with a comfortable pair of jeans and some neutral accessories.

Thanks and  take care.

Birthday Wishes: Polka Dots and Pencil Skirts

Hello Everyone,

Another year older and another year wiser. I’ve learn so much about life and fashion in the past year and I hope that I can continue to share this journey with you.

This is the third installment of the collaboration with Vivid Foto.  This particular set is my favorite, it reminds me of old Hollywood Glamour and that true style, never goes out of style, we just update it often.

Thanks again for reading, and here’s to more amazing years of style with you.

Nature Inspiration

Saturdays and Sundays are for enjoying the outdoors. I’ve definitely missing the turning of the leaves on the continent but I’m happy just being outside and enjoying nature. I’ve been meaning to visit the botanical gardens to get some color and outfit inspirations. I love how nature gives us clues on what color combinations and outfit ideas work best.

A couple of weeks ago, we decided to go and check out one of the botanical garden of Wahiawa on our way to the North Shore. We got a chance to check out the new orchid blooms as well as the other interesting plants.

I notice how the ground cover looked a lot like the outfit that I am wearing. The way the purples and the silvery blue green merged complimented each other.

Always know, that if it happens naturally in nature, it can be translated into an outfit. Try it out.

Thanks again for reading and I hope you get inspired by nature in your next outfit.

Polka Dots

Hello All,

Polka dots are always classic. The skirt gives the print a softer look by using it on a sheer layer for this A line cut. I decided to bring out the color of the dots by using a similar color top and continuing the circle theme onto the necklace and the cutout of the shoes.

Rainy Day Break: Salted Lemon

Happy Monday Everyone,

Hawaii has been hot and humid lately with our extended summer weather and potential storms in the Pacific.

On humid and rainy days like the ones we have been having, one of the healthiest treats are cold refreshing acai and papaya bowls at Salted Lemon. I completely adore their take on organic and healthy snacks and drinks. Not to mention the fresh flowers and adorable succulents that adorn their upcycled palette tables and walls.

The place has a distinct feeling of home and rightfully so, Patrick, the owner built the business as  an homage to his mom. He mentioned, that while she battled cancer and went through chemotherapy, he started looking at healthy food options and ingredients. He took this passion for health and built Salted Lemon to share healthy options with the community as well as support local growers that his parents once worked with when they ran Bob’s Market.

If you are in Honolulu, stop by Salted Lemon and take a break with healthy amazing food.

Concrete Jungle: Military Green and Nuetrals

It’s been sunny lately with a bit of chill. Warm days and cooler nights, definitely Spring weather. It’s time to bring out warm weather pieces.

I wore this outfit touring through the new murals that went up in the Kakaako Area. I love looking at the different murals and looking for inspiration.

I love the effortless pairing of cream and black and I decided to add on a military green anorak for a little bit of color without taking away from the neutral vibe.

I kept the the whole outfit very casual and softened the look with closed toe heeled sandals. I can not get enough of this pair.

Thanks again for reading. Take care.

Wanderlust: Taste of the Garden Isle, Kauai Adventure

About a month ago, we decided to take a break from Oahu and make our way to Kauai. It was a great weekend to get away and just enjoy life on another island. We got a chance to spend time with family and check out the cool sites to see on Kauai. Here are a few shots on our drive up to the north where we got a chance to visit the wet and drive caves.

I enjoy the character of each island. Kauai has this air of relaxation wherever you go. I love checking out the beaches there, so serene and peaceful.

We got a chance to check out the newly renovated Kilauea light house and listen to its significant story.

We also got a chance to check out one of my favorite local brands of coffee,  Kauai Coffee Company and take a tour of their farm as well as go coffee tasting.

Hope you enjoy these snap shots of Kauai.

Flowers in the Shade: Sleeveless Button Downs and Floral Pencil Skirt

I’ve always been a fan of the classic pencil skirt in unexpected prints. I feel in love with this skirt last spring because of its bold red poppy print against the deep violet background. I love the contrast of the two colors and how compliment each other so well. They remind me of the beautiful perenials that welcome the Spring sunshine.

The personality of the skirt is so strong that I decided to highlight by using neutral accessories.

This is a perfect outfit for afternoon tea with friends.

Thanks again for reading. Let me know how you dress for easy going Spring afternoons.

Northward: Packing for Winter Weather

Hello Everyone,

These pictures were taken a couple of days before we got back home from Michigan. The snow lightly covered the area where we stayed.

I got a chance to test out my Hunter Rain Boots in the snow.

I had hoped to do this post closer to my trip to Michigan but since it’s snowing heavy back east, I figured it would be cool to do a packing post. It’s rare, I visit the continental U.S during the winter and this time around I decided to just take carry-on luggage given that flights usually get moved, delayed, and cancelled. Also, I really did not want to lose luggage going to and from my destination.

The trip was about a week and a half to Northern Michigan where the temperatures get really low. We checked weather reports up until the day we left, it was to make sure that we were packed accordingly.

This is what I packed in my carry-on.

L to R:  cowl neck sweater, old navy. chevron scarf, eden in love. coat, ross.

I kept most of my pieces neutral with lots of browns, grays, and beige. I also added some color to my wardrobe with pops of red. I brought three pairs of shoes; a regular pair of lace up boots (they are my go to Dr. Marten’s knee high boots),  a pair of strappy pumps (my favorite Christian Louboutin shoes as seen in my New Year’s post)  and a the Hunter boots that I decided to test out in the snow. They definitely kept my toes warm with heated socks. I found the heated socks work better than the regular hunter socks (thanks to my boyfriend’s dad, who got them for me.) I did not picture that pairs of shoes here because I use them often on this blog.

I hope that I am able to do a styling post for the pieces that I brought in a future post. I have to admit, the outfits worked out better than I expected and they managed to keep me warm. Not bad for a newbie in winter weather.

I hope you are having a great start of your week. Take care and let me know you think.
