Summer Solstice and Denim Ease

20180622_131243

Outfit posts have been far and few between. With Spring ending and the Summer Solstice a few days ago.  I felt inspired to share one of my go-to outfits for warmer months. Linens shirts and denim skirts have an ease to them that’s perfect for warm summer days.  Their natural fibers allow you to stay cool under the Summer sun and staying cool is a must in Hawaii.

Lately, I have really been loving this pairing.  I own a few denim skirts and I like the structure and the pleated waste design of this one. It’s a break from the classic denim cut popularized 70’s and 80’s.

Hello Everyone,

I hope you are having an amazing weekend spent with your family and friends. Recently, the weather in Hawaii is a bit cooler than usual.  It is times like this that I bring out the light sweaters and cardigans. They are my absolute favorite laying piece. I have several colors of lights sweaters and cardigans that are good to pair with pieces in my closet that are more neutral.

For this outfit, I started with a black and white base and added a pop of orange-red. I love to add brighter colors to black and white outfits.

Saturday Nostalgia

maroonHello All,

They say that the person you are today is a reflection of who you were in the past, just better.  I have to admit the things that I pick out for my closet now definite reflect certain memorable items from my childhood.

maroon2

I’ve always loved beaded jewelry. I think the first beaded piece of jewelry I owned was given to me by my mother. It was a bracelet made of red seads with black dots at the very tip of each bead. They were strung up on a wax linen string. I adored it as a child. Today, I pick out beaded jewelry that I love to wear over and over again with different outfits. I love their earthy character.

Besides beaded jewelry, I’ve always loved the feel of a great pair of jeans. I must have been in the 5th grade when I learned that a great pair was essential. I adore this biker style black pair of jeans. I love the textured knees.

What are items in your closet take you back to your childhood? Let me know. Take care.

I’m currently loving blues. I am really loving the richness of the color and the peacefulness it exudes. One of the pieces from my closet that I’ve been pairing for different outfits is this cobalt blue pencil skirt. For this outfit, I paired it with a striped button down, a nude pair of shoes, and a little bit of bling.

Let me know what you think. Take care and thanks for reading.

Anniversaries, Bows, Pearls, and Audrey

bows and pearls

Hello Everyone,

This past weekend marked the 3rd year anniversary of A Pair of Shoes For Everyday. This blog has taught me so much in the past couple of years about myself, my personal style as well as blogging. I am truly grateful for all the support that all of you have given me. I want to say THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to share with you my dreams. This blog would not be possible without all of you.

bows and pearlsTo the all the individuals who have helped me along the way (my friends, my family, my readers, my followers, the people who have sponsored this blog, my photographer and guest photographers, and the blogging community) thank you for your constant support and love. I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to work with all of you and be inspired by you. I do not know where this blog will take me in the coming year, all I know is that I cannot wait for this blogging year to be AMAZING.

bows and pearlsI wanted to celebrate the blog’s anniversary with an inspired look by one of my favorite style icons, Audrey Hepburn.  A classic a-line dress, a simple but elegant strand of pearls and a simple pair of red pumps that speaks to the timelessness of great style.

I hope your week will be amazing.

With thankfulness and love,

Elle

I’m completely amazed by how quickly 2014 passed. This year felt like a great big juggling act between school, work, and this blog. I learned so much about myself, time management, and my goals. I have to admit 2014 was a big year for this blog. It received some cool sponsorships, amazing collaborations, and it would not have been possible without you. You (my friends, my family, and my readers) have made this blog and I greatly appreciate your time, support, and encouragement. Thank you as well for giving be an opportunity to express myself. I hope you had an amazing 2014 and wish that you have an unforgettable 2015 filled with happiness, peace, and joy. Cheers!

White Shirts are Easy

Hello Everyone,

White shirts make the world go round. I have a ton of them in my closet, in different fabrics, cuts, and fits. I found this easy pullover from Rumi Murikami’s Summer Collection last month at the Made in Hawaii festival and I’ve already worn in several times. It’s an easy piece that goes with everything. I can dress it up or dress it down and the cut is perfect for those extra warm Hawaiian afternoons. I paired this shirt with a set of DIY necklaces and a pair of patented red ballet flats to give it a polished tribal look. How do you wear your white shirts? Let me know.

XOXO,

Elle

P.S. The Cut Collective is having a trunk show this weekend, Saturday, September 27, 2014, 11 AM-4PM. Check out the amazing collections of Allison Izu, Rumi Murakami, and Ten Tomorrow.

Leopard in the Desert

Leopard in the DesertLeopard in the Desert

Amazing Saturday Everyone!

This is my second installment of my collaboration with Kris from KM2 Creative in Las Vegas. When we first discussed the collaboration, Kris mentioned doing the shoot at the dry lake bed. I really did not know what to expect but I figured I’d put together an outfit that really celebrates the unique desert features of the area.

Leopard in the Desert

While out shopping in Las Vegas, I spotted (no pun intended) this gorgeous leopard print trousers, the unique rosette pattern definitely called out to me. Usually, leopard print is so bold that in the past I gravitated to only accessorize with it. But after falling in love with these pants, I could not help but step out of my comfort zone a little.

Leopard in the Desert

The leopard print trousers was perfect for the shoot. It complimented the backdrop that we were working with perfectly. Because the print from the pants is bold, I decided to wear a simple white blouse  and nude pumps.

Good Friends, Great Times: Lace and Pleats

 laceandpleats

Hello All,

This past Spring break, I flew up to Las Vegas to celebrate my best friend’s wedding as well as spend some time with great friends. While visiting, I got a chance to do a photo shoot with my good friend Kris from KM2 Creative. It was so much fun shooting on location as well as learning so much about fashion photography. I have to say, I’m super proud of him for following his dreams as a artist. He is truly an inspiration.

While on my mini vacation in Las Vegas. I like to shop at places that we do not have in Hawaii.  One of my favorite places to frequent is Zara. I love their selection of pieces. They are always on trend and runway inspired. When I first saw this skirt on their website, I instantly fell in love with the colors of the lace. I loved it more when I saw the skirt in person at their Las Vegas store. It is a such a beautiful piece that I wanted to really highlight the skirt in this outfit by choosing pieces that were more subtle.

Dressed Up: Pearls and Taffeta

Hello All,

I hope you are having a wonderful week. While on  a short hiatus on the blog, I attended a formal event at the Neal Blaisedell Concert Hall. I really did not have a lot of time to shop for a gown so I decided on putting together an outfit of items from my closet.

This is what I was able to put together. I found an ivory lace top that had a high collar and paired it with a maxi taffeta skirt that I quickly put together. I finished the simple outfit with multiple strands of pearls.  The lace, taffeta, and pearls pairing created a very dressed up look. Let me know what you think.

XOXO,

Elle
