Secrets to Shopping for Christian Louboutin and Other Luxury Shoes

I guess it’s about time I share my methods in acquiring the shoes that I have in my shoe collection. I’ve been an avid shoe collector since high school and I’m going to be candid with you about the things that I have learn throughout the years. I am one of those people that never shop outside of my means. Let’s keep this real, I do not make a ton of money to blog, the reality is this blog has been a work in progress and the market is flooded with people who have their own style and want to share it with the world. I have a REAL career and I have an affinity to wearing expensive shoes.  I know that this blog is called A Pair of Shoes for Everyday. I have a lot of shoes but I do not have a pair for every day of the year nor do I have room for them. The blog name alludes to the fact that I have pairs of shoes that are used a lot in my wardrobe and therefore they are worth the investment I put into them.

So how exactly do I go about purchasing these shoes. I make a shoe list of my favorite shoes styles on the runway that season. Next, I go through my shoe wardrobe first to find shoes that I already fit current trends.  I look for styles that will last a few seasons, have very classic silhouettes and fit my personal style for example spikes and industrial details.

I  visit stores and boutiques that carry the shoes that are on my wish list. I try on a few styles, checking for fit, noting the pitch, and the comfort of the shoe. This is important because you have to be relatively comfortable in the shoes that you are in. Some pairs of shoes no matter how sexy or gorgeous they maybe on other people may not be the pair for you.  Then the waiting game begins.

Shoe seasons are quarterly and shoe sales are bi-annual. Sales tend to be from June to August and from November to December. It’s important to get to know associates at the boutiques in your area and establish a rapport with them. These associates will give you a heads up on what styles will go on sale at the end of the season and when special events happen in store. Retailers like Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and other luxury retail stores have the tendency to have sales during this time. And stores tend to drop prices the later you go, always fight the need to purchase at the beginning of the sale as prices drop often. If you wait long enough and if the shoe is still there, prices will drop to a price point that is easier on the pocketbook. I have found several pairs of shoes what went well over a $1000 and bought them for a fifth of that price but you have to be willing to wait it out.

Sometimes, I check online discount websites: The Outnet, Barney’s Warehouse, Off Saks 5th Avenue, etc. I also scour Ebay and consignment shops (The Real Real, Yoogi’s Closet, etc.)  on the styles that I would like to add to my collection. Always ask the seller questions and read up on the shoe brands and authenticity. There are great people out there who have created resources that you can use to figure out authenticity or ask about authenticity. I personally use the Purse Blog Purse Forum . When in doubt always find a second opinion, there are authentication places out there that can help you authenticate a shoe for a small fee. The great thing about shopping with consignment shops, they have an authenticity expert in house that check the items they sell.  silklace4a

On top of researching and doing some ground work, I also have a separate account for shoe purchases. The real goal is to get the shoe you want for a price that is reasonable for your budget. I always set a price point for shoes that I want to purchase. Truthfully,  I’ve have only bought one pair of designer shoes full price and they were for my wedding day. I do not shop for shoes impulsively, it’s too big of an investment and designer shoes will always go on sale or can always be found for less than market value if your are willing to wait.

Thanks so much for making it through this long blog post. I wanted to make sure I gave you enough tips on how to shop for luxury shoes. If you have any questions or additional tips please feel free to comment and let me know.

Weekend Workout: Health, Fitness, and Progress

Hey everyone,

I hope you are having a great weekend so far.  I’ve been working on my schedule for  work, this blog, and setting aside time to work out.  Busy-ness always gets the best of us when it’s all about deadlines and meeting them on time and sometimes, we give up time set aside for our health to meet our goals.

Recently, I’ve been trying to get back into a real fitness schedule, whether hitting the gym on a regular basis or finding time to go out running and enjoy the outside air.  I think it’s absolutely important to take the time to take care of our health and fitness. On top of finding a real workout schedule, I’ve also been spending more time cooking in the kitchen and trying out new recipes. Being healthy and getting fit is definitely “work in progress” for me.

I’ve kind of broken my shopping diet by purchasing much needed updates in my workout wardrobe. I figured I needed a boost in motivating myself to go and work out.  I’ve really been loving the new work out collection from Forever 21; the color, the prints, and the styles have really been catching my eye. I think workout wear shouldn’t be boring at all. I really love outfits that look great but also function great. I like the fact that the pieces in the new collection function well for workouts but can also be worn with other outfits.  I can’t wait to style and incorporate these pieces into other outfits.

Thanks again for reading and share your thoughts.

Urban Safari: Jumpsuit Style

jumpsuitHello All,

Hope you are having a great saturday. I’ve been on the look out for a great fitting jumpsuit. It’s an item I have put on my wish list.  There’s something about them that’s utilitarian and makes you feel like you can conquer anything. I have yet to find one that’s perfect for my petite frame. It’s a one piece so it tends to fit certain body types and shapes and finding the right one with the right fit is a little bit of trail and error.

While I wait to find “the one” I figured I’d create a faux jumpsuit look but pairing two items of the same fabric and color  to create the jumpsuit look without the jumpsuit sizing issue.  In addition, it’s  little bit more bathroom friendly.

Have a great weekend and let me know what you think.

Happy Thanksgiving and An Awesome Black Friday Too

Hello All,

Happy Thanksgiving to you! I am truly thankful for all the love and support from all my friends, family, and my followers that have been following this blog and taking the time to read it. Blessings to you and your families as you celebrate this holiday with lots of laughter and time well spent with family.

I also hope that you have a safe and exciting Black Friday. If you brave the Black Friday rush, I hope you are able to get great deals as well as get all your shopping done for the holidays.  Some tips for Black Friday speed shopping:

1. Wear tight fitting comfortable clothes and comfy shoes. The lines are long so minimizing your time in the dressing room is a must. The tight fitting clothing will allow you to try on the clothes or items without going to the dressing rooms.  I usually wear yoga pants and workout wear and a pair of flip flops. Shopping is a workout so dress comfortably.

2. Keep your hands free with a cross body bag and prepare your coupons, lists, cards, cash and phone handy.

3. Lists are always awesome.  Have a list of things you are shopping for to deter from over shopping and know your size as well as the sizes of the people you are shopping for.

4. Set a budget and stick to it.

5. Have a game plan, take turns in lines if you are with friends or be friendly with the  person next to you in line, you never know, you may need their help if you are shopping alone.

6. Bring water and hydrate.

7. Have fun!!! 🙂

Thanks again for reading. Take care.

The Art of Shopping Lists

Hey all,

Happy Sunday to you! Hope you are all doing well. I’ve been liking the chillier nights here in Hawaii. It doesn’t get as chilly as the continent but honestly, it’s been welcomed. Summer and early fall here get very warm and humid so cooler weather is always a plus. I’ve been bringing out the light sweaters and jackets recently. I’m loving it.

One of the reasons for this blog was to help me work through my shopping and to fine tune my style. It’s biggest help:

1. I no longer impulse buy
2. I wait and think about my purchases
3. I actually think about pros and cons to shopping for an item
4. I look for quality in the clothing and shoes I purchase
5. Less shopping means, I can enjoy using the items in my closet a lot more
6. It’s allowing me to be creative and play with my style far more than I use to
7. I’m learning to love each piece in my closet and if I don’t love it anymore, I’m definitely allowing someone else to have the opportunity

Such a simple thing but the impact is so great. At least for me, it’s helped a lot.

What’s a closet shrinking trick that you have learned? Let me know.

Rainbows and Rain Boots in Hawaii Rain

In Hawaii, it rains for a major part of the year. In honesty, it’s either sunny or rainy here, those are the only two major weather conditions. Although, we do have snow, it’s only on the peaks or higher elevations. The fall and winter months in Hawaii marks the season for rain and rainbows. Not a day goes by between September to January where you don’t see a rainbows here.

On that note, I often wondered why rain boots are not popular here when almost half the year Hawaii has rain. It got me thinking of investing in a pair of classic rain boots for the fall, winters, and spring months when it rains so much here. I’ll definitely been on the lookout for a great pair of rain boots. I like the idea that they are water resistant and they keep your toes warm and dry. And yes, it does get colder for us here in Hawaii mainly because of the wind chill factor during the winter months.

Hunter has some very cute styles, the knee high rain boots might be a little to much from my petite frame but we will see. I was also looking for rain boots that have cute prints on them just to change it up a little. In honesty, I’m really only looking for a plaid or polka dot print but it’s been fun looking through the many different prints that are out there. I like looking at online stores like Zappos because it’s easy to compare all the different types, styles, prints and prices in one place. I will definitely need to do more research.

Do you have rain boots? What brands or brand do you like? I would love to hear what you think?

Hope you have an amazing Veteran’s Day Holiday. I wanted to thank all the veterans and current soldiers for sacrifices they have made for our country. Blessings always and take care.

Pearls and Pleats!

Hi Everyone,
I hope you are all having a wonderful Friday. I am looking forward to an amazing weekend filled with the company of friends and family.

This week, I had the pleasure of working with two amazing photographers who helped me out with my blog.  Ashley of Taryn Reid Photography and Ronalyn. Two amazing women with so much talent and knowledge about photography. I learned so much from the both of them when it come to photography, posing, as well as understanding the human body in photography. I am truly honored to have work with the both of them. You will have a chance to see some of their work in the proceeding posts.

I just love the way pleats go so well with a basic white button down shirt. I pulled this outfit together with a vest, layered pearl necklaces and a classic pair of black pumps. A great outfit for work or hanging out with friends.

I hope you have an amazing Friday. Thank you so much for reading. Please comment, follow, and like. I would love to hear from you.

Maroons and Browns

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are having a great start of the week. I have always loved Fighting Eel dresses. They are dresses that are very versatile and wearable for any occasion. I picked up this Fighting Eel dress last year at a sample sale. I love the deep maroon color. Here, I paired this Fighting Eel Dress with a beige blazer, pumped up the neckline with a cluster bib fushia necklace I borrowed from my bestie. I finished the outfit with a brown pleated front peep toe pump from Aldo.   Hope you like it. Take care.

Hello Everyone!

I hope your week is going well. I’ve recently got into my pinning on Pinterest. I have to say, it’s such a great resource of ideas and inspirations for DIYs, recipes, outfits, and anything you could possibly think of.  I’ve been inspired to work on a couple of DIY accessories that I want to incorporate into my wardrobe. I can’t wait to make them and pair them with outfits for my outfit of the days posts.

Speaking of accessories, a good friend of mine approached me about doing a blog post about accessories and accessories tips. I’m putting that post for you guys and hopefully, I will have it up at the end of the week. On that note, a guy friend of mine inspired me to do a blog post about my style and color inspirations for outfits. I definitely can’t wait to share those things with all of you. If you guys have any comments and ideas for future post, let me know and I can try my best to share my perspective with you. Hope you guys have a great week.
