Spring Flowers

Hello all,

Spring is in full swing, sun and showers and everything in between. I love to just chill under the canopy of big trees on a picnic day at the park. This was a nice day to sit by the pond and watch the ducks. It’s nice to be near nature.

I found this dress as a local boutique. I instantly fell in love with the print. It’s made from upcycled vintage materials. I’d loved to pair this someday with a big floppy hat and some cute strappy sandals but for now it’s great for sitting out in the sun.

Classic Elegance: Vintage Finds

Michelle_A_Glamour-66

Hello All,

Hope you are having a great day. I’ve always had a love for vintage clothing;  the structure, the fabric and the details on vintage pieces are not often found in pieces today. Last summer, I popped into Barrio Vintage to browse their amazing collection of vintage pieces. I stumbled about this gorgeous vintage high low skirt made of taffeta with flock. I could not pass up such an amazing find.

It is perfect for dressier events. In honesty, I bought the skirt mainly for the beautiful fabric.

I paired the skirt with a bustier top that I thrifted a couple of years back. The pairing looked so amazing together. The perfect outfit for a formal or a ball.

Vintage Gingham

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well. Summer is almost here and I have been very busy finishing up  work. I definitely welcome the summer months.  I just adore the opportunity in enjoying the beach, barbecue with friends, and just enjoying the nature of Hawaii. Summer brings back a lot of nostalgia for me especially because of all the great times spent with friends.

A print that’s very current this season and is a summer mainstay is gingham. I have to admit, it’s one of my favorite prints to wear on its own and to mismatch.  I found this gingham romper at Barrio Vintage in Downtown Honolulu. I love the fact that this romper looks so much like a dress that it’s hard to notice that it is a romper. One thing I like about  vintage shopping is that most vintage pieces have the tendency to run smaller, so they are very petite friendly.

Anniversaries, Bows, Pearls, and Audrey

bows and pearls

Hello Everyone,

This past weekend marked the 3rd year anniversary of A Pair of Shoes For Everyday. This blog has taught me so much in the past couple of years about myself, my personal style as well as blogging. I am truly grateful for all the support that all of you have given me. I want to say THANK YOU for giving me the opportunity to share with you my dreams. This blog would not be possible without all of you.

bows and pearlsTo the all the individuals who have helped me along the way (my friends, my family, my readers, my followers, the people who have sponsored this blog, my photographer and guest photographers, and the blogging community) thank you for your constant support and love. I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to work with all of you and be inspired by you. I do not know where this blog will take me in the coming year, all I know is that I cannot wait for this blogging year to be AMAZING.

bows and pearlsI wanted to celebrate the blog’s anniversary with an inspired look by one of my favorite style icons, Audrey Hepburn.  A classic a-line dress, a simple but elegant strand of pearls and a simple pair of red pumps that speaks to the timelessness of great style.

I hope your week will be amazing.

With thankfulness and love,

Elle

Something Old, Something New: Putting it All Together

croppedsweater2

croppedsweater3Hello All,

My photographer and I wanted to try something new by doing a night time shoot. Let me know how it turned out. One of the hardships with night time shoots is always lighting. I think he did a good job with what little light we had available.

I have recently examine my closet and realized that my closet is a mixture of pieces that I have collected over the years; pieces from college that I try too keep in good condition, hand me down pieces, pieces I have found on Ebay, discounted and outlet items, some vintage and thrifted acquisitions and new pieces. Despite where I have found most of the pieces from my closet, one thing remains the same, they all fit my style. It’s not as incohesive as described above, there is definitely a running style thread that makes all the pieces in my closet fit together.

This outfit is just that, a hodge podge of different items that just fit together.  From my pairs of Christian Louboutin heels to vintage items liked this polka dot skirt which was a great find from Barrio Vintage, a local vintage shop, to the cropped short sleeve sweater from the  Peter Pilotto for Target collection and the glue that ties them to together, is a classic white button down shirt that can be worn with anything.

One quote that sticks out to me from one of my favorite designers as a child, Yves Saint Laurent once said, “Fashion fades, Style is Eternal.” Stay Stylish Ladies and Gentlemen.

XOXO,

Elle

Hello All,

I hope you are having a great week. Recently, I have been loving midi skirts. I love its classic cut and worry free length. For petite women like myself, sometimes it is harder to wear a midi skirt without feeling a little overwhelmed. I like to find skirts that I can wear high waisted. I also like wearing nude heels with them because it helps to give the illusion of being taller.

How do you wear your midi skirts? Let me know and share your tips.

Saturday Sparkle: Vintage Vibe

STATEMENT NECKLACE 2

Happy Saturday Everyone,

I’m currently in love with statement necklaces that sparkle. I love pieces that have a classic and vintage vibe. Some things never go out of style. I can’t wait to use these with future outfits.
